Road segmentation in remote sensing is vital for urban planning, traffic monitoring, and autonomous driving. GuidedBox introduces an end-to-end framework leveraging a teacher model to generate pseudo-labels, with novel noise-aware confidence scoring and pixel loss. It outperforms state-of-the-art methods on the Massachusetts Roads Dataset (AP50 = 0.9231) and shows robustness across SpaceNet and DeepGlobe datasets.

Dr. Teerapong Panboonyuen, also known as “Dr. Kao”, is a leading researcher in Artificial Intelligence. He currently serves as the Principal Researcher at MARSAIL (Motor AI Recognition Solution Artificial Intelligence Laboratory), an advanced research lab integrating AI into the automotive and car insurance industries.

Academically, Dr. Kao earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Chulalongkorn University in just two and a half years, supported by the 100th Anniversary Doctoral Scholarship and the 90th Anniversary Scholarship. He also obtained his Master’s degree in the same field within one and a half years, under the Graduate Scholarship in Celebration of the 72nd Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King. Remarkably, he completed his doctoral degree at the age of only 27, a testament to his exceptional academic capability and unwavering dedication.

He has been awarded the prestigious Second Century Fund (C2F – Track A) Postdoctoral Fellowship, supporting high-impact AI research with global significance. In addition, he is among the few Thai researchers honored with the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) 2025 Fellowship, graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

His expertise spans Computer Vision (object recognition, scene understanding, semantic perception), Geospatial Intelligence (satellite and aerial image analysis for spatial decision-making), and Human-AI Interaction, which is essential for building AI systems that understand and communicate effectively with humans.
